More Volocheks
It's been a month and a half since my last post, honestly I haven't made much progress since then, but recently I challenged myself to get some stuff done. So I got some more stuff for the Volocheks assembled. Four Python Suits from Khurasan and a Warmonger Tank from Critical Mass Games Mercenary collection. This tank is hugemongus and I love it to death. On top of that, I managed to get them all primed and got the remaining 20 infantry painted, just need to finish the bases.
All of these pictures were taken in a lightbox I made with stuff sitting around my house. Let me know if you think it help with the picture clarity or quality.

Test print from shapeways
So I have been working on my 3D modeling to try and make some 15mm terrain that I can then have printed out and mailed to me or anyone else that would want it. I wanted to see what one of the materials was like and ordered something myself.
This is the low poly-count Cloud Strife you run around as in Final Fantasy VII, he is modeled in the colored sandstone material, so theres no painting required. It has a rough finish, and feels like I can break it apart with my hands if I really wanted to, but for something that's going to sit on a table then be stored safely in a box when not in use, it should hold up fine. This is one of the cheaper materials that Shapeways offers prints in, there are some very high quality, sturdy materials, but they are more expensive. I am looking at Shapeways as a means to make terrain, I'm not terribly good at making terrain by hand, but I can use 3D programs much easier to get my ideas out of my head. I will be uploading some of my 3D models and test out my own creations soon!

Rim Wars Battle Fleets
To try something new I picked up 2 starter fleets from GZG's Full Thrust Line. I got the Kra'Vak and Neu Swabian League (NSL) starter fleet to play with, they have 8 ships each, plus stands. The smallest ships are about 25mm long. We are going to use the Full Thrust Lite rules, possibly altered slightly to add in some extra awesome for our tastes.
Overall these are some very cool looking ships, There are a few spots on the Kra'Vak ships where the metal has some small holes, but they are in very thin areas that are easily remedied. The NSL ships are very intact, and only the largest 2 ships have multiple pieces, and are easily assembled in seconds. I hope to get a game in with these this weekend, and add a new dynamic to our sci-fi Rim War games.
That's a lot of spaceships |

Volochek Air Support has Arrived!
I've been waiting for a few months for Khurasan Miniatures to release their DOE Gunship and they finally did this past week. So I quickly picked up the 3 pack of them and they arrived on the 8th, quick on the draw as usual. These gunships are some of the coolest looking 15mm scaled models I've seen, and plans to modify a few of them are already cropping up. I plan to have this one as a dedicated gunship, another to be a troop carrier, and the third will be a secret until I get it all together.
The kit is about 17 resin pieces, 7 metal pieces, and it comes with parts for landing gear up or down. Everything fit together well after a little TLC. This particular gunship will have its full weapon loadout of ATGM's, rocket pods, and the nose cannon. I will get more posted as I get more work done to this gunship and the troop carrier.

Volochek Respublik
The Volochek are going to be an army for my 15mm sci-fi games. I'm liking the way they are shaping up. I have all the infantry,(this is less than half) but I my tanks haven't arrived yet, and I am waiting on another manufacturer to finish casting a new release for these guys.
Looking forward to getting their armour and finishing out the rest of the army, let me know what you think.

FUBAR
I've been recently introduced to the simple 1-page ruleset that is FUBAR. The core rules are based around a modern/sci-fi setting. It's a very open ruleset, which makes it great for those who enjoy wargaming for the fun, not the winning. I've been in 1 game with the ruleset, after reading over it for 5 minutes, and we had picked models, weapons, armor types, etc. within 15 minutes. It was a very enjoyable experience and we had a lot of fun. This ruleset gives me something simple and easy to use my 15mm guys with, or any random models I want to cobble together into a force. Or... it gives me something to use stuff that looks too cool for its own good like this...
I'm debating it heavily with a buddy of mine to get a few small forces of the DUST Tactics armies and play FUBAR: Weird War 2.
I personally don't like the DUST Tactics setup, but they have some sweet lookin stuff! |

Sunday Smalls
Meet Areola the Mermaid, she likes perching on rocks for hours on end, and getting caught in the Gulf Stream. She wants to meet a land-walker one day and have mutant, legged fish babies. Best of wishes to her...
I know I set a very easy goal to accomplish each week, but it's just a starting point. I should be stepping it up a bit soon to get myself to complete more stuff and get Chris off my back more, lol.

Sunday Smalls (on monday)
OK, so I'm a day late, story of my life. I changed the name of it to force myself to do a weekly event, to force myself to make sure its done and posted by 11:59pm Sunday night, guess well have to see how that goes by next Sunday, eh? Regardless here is a finished mini! Its one of the reaper female thieves, which "co-incidentally" fits into the RSBM rule set.... but i digress, it feels good to get one of these things done and out of the way.
Now, which one to do for next Sunday...

Smalls
I have this growing collections of single models that looked to cool to pass up at the time, but just never gotten around to painting them, I'm sure everyone has something similar to this, but I'm gonna try to make progress on these models. I'm thinking work on at least 1 model each week, and force myself to do a progress report to keep myself honest and on track.
I'm sure that I have more than this, but these were on my desk |
These are some snipers from Warmahcine |

So I guess you'll see at least one of these guys next weekend with some work done to them, hopefully completed above all else.

Happy Burfday!
The annual celebration of my arrival on this plane of existence has come once more. I don't really ask or expect anything like I did as a youngin', but those close to me might spend some coin for neat things in celebration. Nowadays I end up just spending some more cash on myself and get cool things and use the birthday as an excuse, as I'm sure most of you do as well.
My buddy Chris over at Sippin' on Paint Water was nice enough to get me a military model that we had discussed weeks before. An LAV model, this one of the AT variety, a beast coming in at 1:35 scale, which wasn't huge until I saw it for myself. Definitely something I'll have to dig into soon, it's too cool lookin not to!

Kayseri Infantry Completed
My Kayseri strike force infantry have finally been painted for 5150 Star Army. I decided to go with a more colorful scheme on them, and to let the varying colors show the tribe that they hail from. I still need to paint their bases and the commander and his little retinue, probably going with a yellow blue scheme for them, as a ruling class or something.
Now just to finish that commander and his retinue, and figure out how im gonna paint the walker tanks I picked up for them and they will be fleshed out.

So the divine touch of greater beings has affected me this week,
and I've decided to start a Chaos army...
I introduce to you, Hadadezer's Guilded Disciples
(Haa-duh-deh-zhur, just in case you were curious)
I have a paint scheme and badge made for them, now for the army list, fluffy bits, and the work of assembly and paint.

Recent Absence
Ive been off of work for the past 2 weeks and decided to relax. Apparently I relaxed too much, too hard, cause I got almost nothing done, but man was it great. All I have to show for it is one more completed mini and work on about 4 others.
But I am painting more frequently than I used to, using my friends advice, "Just put some dam paint on it already" and believe it or not, its been working quite well. So with me going back to work this week and having reduced time at home, I will probably use my time more wiseley than doing absolutely nothing, and should knock some more stuff out soon.

Paint day at The Grinning Gamer
Chris over at Sippin on Paint Water held a paint session over at The Grinning Gamer in Greensboro this afternoon. He helped those that attended with different painting techniques and color sorcery. While he assisted the masses in his dark art, I was busy painting a Liche that I had purchased from the same store a few weeks ago. I put a good 4 hours or so into him, and think he turned out pretty badass.
I'm done with this guy for now. If I get back around to him later, I will probably add some more detail to his straps and buttons, etc. I still plan to add some painted cotton around his base to give him more of a ghostly vapor cloud to hover through, should be awesome! I should also be getting a lot of stuff painted over the next 2 weeks as I am between jobs and don't have much to do, and as I no longer have an excuse not to paint stuff.

Ravenstar Studios
Last week while I was out on business my order from Ravenstar Studios arrived, containing my Stalker tanks and Fox Walker for my Kayseri, these definitely help set them apart from the other armies in the area, and the legs make them appear even more alien. They have some really cool models over there for 15mm.
The sculpts on these are very nice, much nicer than I expected. The only downside to these models was the amount of bubbles, but after speaking with Ravenstar, he said that he'd be happy to replace anything that was disfigured. I declined as I have already decided to make said areas battle damaged, but that is a very generous offer. Hopefully they can find whats causing the bubble issue and get it resolved. I would love doing more business with Ravenstar in the future knowing this information.

Sons of Medusa!
For reasons unknown to myself, I have been talked into making a 1000pt strike force for Sons of Medusa. I started looking into their fluff and, to my surprise, found them to be amazingly bad ass. More so than most of the fluff for the conventional Codex: Space Marine Chapters. They are unique in their founding of a chapter, as they were never actually founded. They were reviewed by the High Lords of Terra after a dispute with their previous battle brothers, the Iron Hands, left them exiled. They were found to be pure and righteous in the eyes of the Emperor and granted special chapter status. Here is the first Sergeant I have assembled, his right arm is bionic, I plan to make it more detailed soon.

Kayseri Invasion Force
My Tigrid men from Khurasan Miniatures finally arrived this past Monday while I was out of town. These guys are very detailed for their scale, and I'm very impressed with them. I will be working on some background for them, but I have named then the Kayseri. I'm trying out some paint schemes, currently working on a Red/White/Green scheme. Here's my progress so far.
Let me know what you think, and I should have some more pics with more colors on them soon!
